Tree Planting Event at Chemungen Secondary School: A Step Towards a Greener Future

Eldoret, Kenya, August 2, 2024 – In a remarkable initiative to foster environmental consciousness and combat climate change, the students of Chemungen Secondary School participated in a tree planting event that saw the plantation of several hundred indigenous trees. This event, sponsored by PS Amb. Prof. Julius Bitok and organized in collaboration with the Amb. Bitok Foundation, aimed to educate and engage young minds in the crucial task of ecosystem restoration.
The event featured the planting of various indigenous tree species, including the Podocarpus, Elgon Teak, and Croton Megalocarpus. These trees were carefully selected for their significant roles in enhancing biodiversity, stabilizing soil, and providing essential habitats for wildlife.
